Abstract: Catfish Ponds

If you've ever flown over the Mississippi delta you've seen these catfish farms from the airplane window.

Lucille - farm raised, like salmon often is, and tilapia.

I like catfish, but my brother refuses to eat it.

I absolutely love this painting!

Thank you Lisa. It's not a fish we see on our menus in the UK.

I didn't realize catfish was so regional! In the South, it's mostly served fried in cornmeal. Side of hushpuppies.

I live in the Mississippi prairie (east central near the Alabama line) and catfish farming is big here too. We have a feed mill and processing facility in the town I live in. And all those ponds look just like that from the air.

Now I've got to look up hushpuppies. Here they are a brand of shoe.
