I have a couple of those small ones and one very large one in my office. One day the doorbell rang and it was a woman from my writers group holding one out in a paper towel. "I saw this and thought you'd want it." I was so perplexed as to how she could tell I'd be interested in it until I remembered that when I had delivered something to her house I'd been all excited about a fallen nest in her yard, which I took home with me. :)
From "Wives & Daughters" (BBC): Miss Phoebe: We always knew Roger Hamley loved our Molly. Miss Browning: We knew no such thing, Phoebe. Miss Phoebe: Well, he rode seven miles to bring her a wasp's nest and you don't do that for no reason!

I collect these too! They're so plentiful, and though I prefer honeybees' homes, these do make good accoutrements. ;-)
