We've loved having Giles home for an extended break between quarters, but he leaves in the morning, as he heads back to the land of Black and White Technique, Art History, and Advanced Computer Applications.
Should it be easier to say goodbye the second time? Fortunately we'll see him this weekend when he joins us for skiing!!
What a beautiful picture!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the goodbye will still be hard, they always seem to be.
I'm so glad you've had that time together. The love that all of you have for each other is obvious. How wonderful that goodbyes are hard since it demonstrates the depth of devotion and affection you all feel!
ReplyDeleteI can't help noticing how much Giles resembles you, especially his smile!
ReplyDeleteAnna, I've been enjoying your archives during my summer break. Please tell Giles, before he leaves, that one of your Aussie readers has also been enjoying the former "G photos" too.
ReplyDeleteCheers, Rose
What a lovely photo. It's a pleasure to see them home and mixed emotions to see them leave.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely scene! Did he set the camera on a delayed timer? What a nice family.
ReplyDeleteIt is my considered opinion that saysing good-by to those we love never, ever gets easier.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy you'll get to see him again soon.
The picture is beautiful!
I can't even imagine sending my firstborn off to college yet. Of course, he's only six...I don't want to think about it!
ReplyDeleteDid you take the picture? I've noticed your photography is very inspired. Did Giles teach you or are you HIS inspiration?
Roxanne
Oh I remember crying when my oldest brother and sister (youngest of six) left for college after Christmas break. I can still remember that little pain. It sounds like the ski trip will ease the pain a bit.
ReplyDeleteLove.
I've found that the first time is always hardest. My son left today to go back to Ft. Benning, and I didn't even cry! It definitely gets easier the more you have to do it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice photo--great capture of the lighting!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful picture full of love. I want to cry (good cry) when I look at it :). What a lovely inspiration for what family means.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is home in her junior year of college for a visit... I always think the goodbyes will be easier. :) But we're moms who love deeply. Praise God for these wonderful visits we get to have. You have such a beautiful family. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI don't normally "advertise" on other people's comments as I don't think it's appropriate. BUT, Anna's blog was my inspiration in hunting down The Homemaker's Encyclopedia books.
ReplyDeleteI have an EXTRA one. It is The Hostess's Complete Handbook. I'm giving it away on my blog if anyone is interested in leaving a comment there.
Thank you, Anna, for introducing this set to me! It's inspiring and just a wonderful read.
Roxanne
Fabulous photo of your fabulous family!
ReplyDeleteAnna, I love your picture, but wish I could see a little more of Felix than just his right arm and a touch of his head. They all seem to be such good kids!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing it.
Ms. Dale
