When I got home from my run I found Daisy in Hazel's lap. The bonding had been done and they had moved on to hair-stroking, reading, and cuddling. "She's the only nineteen-year old I know who wants to play house!" Daisy told me excitedly.
We did let Giles take her out of the house later on, and they trolled the thrift stores, scoring this farmyard vest(!), some eyeglasses(!), and Giles' manvest.
The hipsters.
Fortunately they can turn it off as well as on, and they're not too cool for singing, hide-and-seek in the dark, and popcorn with a card game.
When they're done being hip in the woods.
when did giles become a man?! crazy!! (he looks so much older)
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! Love the vests. Your Giles looks very handsome in his mustard colored tie.
ReplyDeleteAnna, Giles is *so* handsome!!! :D But I'm certain you already know this. ;) They make a lovely couple. xx
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! They are beautiful together. I am glad for Daisy that Hazel and she were able to read together and spend some time bonding. I know change is hard for my youngest. Seems like a great day.
ReplyDeletewow! They are a very beautiful couple! And Daisy approves:)

Who doesn't love
ReplyDeletea) playing dress-up, and
b) posing for pictures?
But glad they're not as scary as they look!

Such cute pictures...love them.
ReplyDeleteHazel? What a great name! They are super handsome hipsters in the woods. She sound fabulous.
ReplyDeleteAnna,
ReplyDeleteIt's posts like this that make me smile the most. I began following PVS right before my husband and I were married. Now, almost three years later, it's amazing to see all of the changes that have gone on during this time... God is so good to us. And Hazel is beautiful too!
In Christ,
Dawn
Is her real name Hazel? Because that is just a fantastic name.
ReplyDeleteHey, she has a ring on her left ring finger - but maybe hipsters don't do things the way others do. :)
ReplyDeleteThose are great photos.
ReplyDeleteThey make the woods look extra hip! I love the glasses.
ReplyDeleteDo I hear the peeling of bells???
ReplyDeleteYes, that ring on the left ring finger momentarily lured me out of the quiet woods of lurkdom too...
ReplyDelete(It is good to hear your voice here again, Anna.... so good.)
Blessings to you and yours,
Ann
I think the ring may just be a thrift store purchase :)
ReplyDeleteGiles is truly a handsome, composed young man.
ReplyDeleteHe will have to be careful, because the world is tough on those. We battle every day against its easy answers and seductive convenience, when often there's better things around the corner.
When I went through college, the temptation not just toward bad behavior but toward total existential confusion was high, and highest in the liberal arts. I barely emerged unscathed.
I am sending fond thoughts and prayers his way as he navigates this difficult time.
In particular, I hope he never becomes a hipster for real. Hipsterism is worship of surface appearance over actual content; it's what happens when social pressures trump what you know deep within.
It was a hard thorny path for me but luckily, I was too nerdly to ever be hip. Hah!
Lovely photo shoot and narration!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos. Hazel reminds me very much of the actress Lisa Brenner, who player the character of Anne Howard in The Patriot.
ReplyDeleteoh how funny! I love Giles' beard.
ReplyDeleteAren't they a gorgeous couple?! Did Giles set up the photos?
ReplyDeleteMy goodness! Giles looks so grown up! And Hazel is very pretty.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love that she and daisy have goten some bonding down.
