That SO expresses my pleasure from crafting: making something from nothing. Using up what I have, not going out and buying a kit. Solving problems with a little creativity. So much more rewarding than throwing money at it. Thank you for your gifts of loveliness. Happy 2011!
Thank you, and happy new year to you! My goals this year involve having a baby (not so much a goal as an inevitability) and using up my stuff (fabric, yarn) without buying *anything* new! Inventiveness! And I always appreciate the inspiration you provide in that department.
My Dd and I now eye things in the thrift store and go, "Pleasant View would do something with that probably!" or "As hideous as that is, could Anna still figure out something to do with it?!"
Meanwhile, we have turned our hands to turning thrifted tea cups and saucers into pincushions to sell to raise funds for the little girl, Katya, that we are trying to adopt! And it's very satisfying. Your example has given us courage to branch out in our up-cycling etc. If you want to peek: http://bringingkatyahome11.blogspot.com/p/teacup-pincushions.html

Oh, my word! That is so gorgeous. I'm not usually a "quilt person," but the beauty of this linen is dreamy!!
I love the light, soft colors. Perfect for January.
