In the Middle of the Summer
• Watering and watering. Everything needs water all the time, it's so dry.
• Felix is home from Costa Rica, registered and oriented for fall, and working on painting the house exterior. That's a hot job.
• The girls have choir and chamber music camps coming up, but not Daisy. She'll be having a friend over.
• I've taken the kids camping twice. That's it for this summer. We got rained on both times, but wow, camping is so much easier now with big kids. Clara likes to pack the car by herself. Okay!
• I'm turning the Colette "Crepe" dress into a zipped-back housedress. In pink gingham. Will report.
• Giles is serving a summer-long internship in New York with a ministry that reaches out to inner-city youth. He has to do a whole lot of teaching. Very stretching for him. We're proud.
• And we're swimming.
I've been wondering if you're still into housedresses.
ReplyDeleteIt's being a wrap style, I guess that's what makes it a possibility.
Lisateresa
I'd be interested to know what focusses the kids through the free months. What motivates Giles for example?
ReplyDeleteSounds like such a busy yet pleasant summer plan.
ReplyDeleteI was just telling a friend in the season that I am in with little ones not even camping is restful. giggle!
ReplyDeleteI hold on to the glimpses that you share of what it will be like when they are older all the while trying not to wish this season away. Thank You, Anne.
That will be a very pretty dress. I was wondering if you will line the dress? Do you ever line them?
ReplyDeleteIf I were asked to give one piece of advice to parents of teenagers/young adults, it would be this.....
ReplyDeleteEncourage your children to serve in missions. We have always participated in family mission trips, but the summer they ventured out on their own mission trip was truly transformational. The spiritual and emotionally growth I've witnessed in my guys is tremendous.
You are right...it stretches and ultimately strengthens them.
Sounds like a wonderful ,fun summer.. Cant wait to see how you make the zipper in the back of the colette dress..Know it will be awsome..
ReplyDeleteHappy Sewing, Judy
Thank you for updating us on your goings-on! :o)
ReplyDeleteI hope the girls have fun with their respective musical camps and Daisy with her friend.
What a blessing for Giles to experience this summer! Sometimes doing something out our normal element makes us grow.
Good luck to Felix with painting in the heat!
I love gingham so I am especially excited to see your new creation.
Have a blessed rest of the summer, Anna!
P.S. We are going to the Paris Market tomorrow! Yay!
