She walks down every day, rain, shine, or fog.
Always carrying a few bites of candy for her two favorite little ones, and a crust of bread to fend off the chickens.
The little goats aren't scary, but the big ones are . . . surprising, sometimes.
She considers herself the little ones' "second mother."
And the goatyard is her "second home."
They're so tiny, Nigerian dairy goats, I think.
Phyllis has a sense of humor--these two are named Luscious Kandy and Sinnamon.
Luscious Kandy always takes a bite of Daisy's skirt.
And Sinnamon is a great climber.
And Jezebel loves a Lifesaver.
This brings back memories of an ice cream place down the road when I was a kid - they had a few farm animals. A neighboring lady took us there once, and a goat ate part of her straw handbag.
ReplyDeleteHow nice for Daisy to have these funny creatures so close by!

ReplyDeleteOh, how I miss my goats. I had to move them in with friends when we had to move back to town this summer. Lovely, big dairy girls - I miss making cheese. Glad the girls get to play goatherd. :)
ReplyDeleteSo sweet! Goats are such comical and endearing little creatures!
ReplyDeleteGenevieve
Are these the offspring of the infamous Lester the wedding pie stealer?
ReplyDeleteLovely. love, Val
ReplyDeleteupdate about the exciting things! is clara finally going to college? how was africa for bella?
ReplyDeleteWell, she's not leaving for college right now, it's the middle of January and she's already entrenched in the school year! :) But she's finalized her plans for next year. Bella had a wonderful trip--and I'll have pictures very soon, I hope.
ReplyDeleteI rarely ever comment but I've been reading your blog now for years.
ReplyDeleteI just had to leave Google Reader and actually say hello again as I've watched your kids grow up.
When I first started blogging, yours was one of the first blogs I read. I was actively homeschooling and your little one was LITTLE.
My homeschooler is getting married in May and graduating from college in December. I'm glad you have continued to let us into your world. :)
I. Love. Goats! How funny that yours is the second blog today to have goat pictures (the other was Rhonda at Southern Hospitality). I miss having goats in the backyard. Their antics are endlessly entertaining, and their milk is delicious.
ReplyDeleteIt never ceases to amaze me, the things goats will attempt to eat. Like rhododendrons...which are poisonous.
ReplyDeleteAwww!Makes me smile:)
