Bella Takes Over the Mouse House Redo
I had been promising Daisy for months that we would redecorate the mouse house--our name for the large doll house that sits in the living room. It was made for me when I was a little girl, painted the same color as this schoolhouse, and (sort of) decorated on the inside to match the big house.
And my toy mice lived in it, with lots of furniture.
Thirty-eight years later, things are looking a little dingy in there, and many of the chairs are down to two or three legs. A do-over is long overdue.
Meanwhile, this summer, Bella began displaying hitherto unknown skill and persistence at actual house decorating. She tackled her closet, moving shelves outside to prep and paint them, prepped and painted her closet, ripped up carpet, and magically got the Compser to lay her a cheap but good-looking vinyl closet floor. Who knew?
So I should not have been surprised when she casually announced she'd steam the wallpaper off the mouse house walls. She's also ripped up the thoroughly-glued-down floor coverings, and I don't even know what tomorrow will bring.
I am a lurker - I watch your simple and peaceful posts.
ReplyDeleteI must come out of my silence though and point out that of course Bella would portray these skills - she has learned them from her mom!!!
Thanks for sharing the moments of your life with us...
Daisy isn't the only one who can't wait. Promise to show us the finished product in all its glory Anna!
ReplyDeleteYes! Nothing so delightful as a dollhouse do-over!
ReplyDeleteWay to go Bella! You are a girl with many talents :)
ReplyDeleteIt's sweet that Daisy wants to play with the house, and that Bella wants to make it nice for Daisy. An ambitious girl you have there, Anna.
ReplyDeleteWe had a mouse house growing up, too! We had a family of toy mice in there and some of my first knitting and crocheting projects were for bedspreads and rugs in the house. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see! :)
ReplyDeleteOoo! I can't wait to see what the mouse house looks like when Bella is finished with it!
ReplyDeletei'm excited to see how Bella will decorate the mouse house.
