Giles has taught himself to play the guitar, bass, and piano since he graduated from college. This weekend Clara decided she'd learn the guitar too. It's such a convenient instrument; it makes people sing together.
Giles showed her D, G, A, and B minor. "These are all you need to play any pop song or worship chorus."
Felix (obsessed with organic chemistry this summer): "Oh! They're nitrogen, hydrogen, oxygen, and carbon."
That's right. Now the kids can build anything. Any song, or any compound.
Just lovely. So wonderful to have such gifted children! And I see your slip-covering skills have extended beyond the arm chair to the lounge as well. It looks so good. I tried slip-covering once and failed miserably because I didn't pre-wash the fabric... needless to say, it didn't fit again after one wash :(
ReplyDeleteI love your sweet family! It is something strange to love a family with which you aren't personally acquainted, but nonetheless, I feel as though I know you. And I do love you :)
ReplyDeleteI just love Felix's comments!! Lily. xxx
ReplyDeleteOh, Lilian, I didn't make that larger slipcover. I've only done the one! But I think I'll do more in the future.
ReplyDeleteSurely Clara was just being nice to Giles and pretending to learn from him - I can't believe she couldn't have figured it out herself in half an hour!

Such fun! I find it delights a mother's heart in a special way to watch siblings instruct each other. (lately it's my 21yo teaching his younger sister to unicycle)
ReplyDeleteYour kids amaze me. I love hearing about all the incredible things they do. For just one day, I'd like to live at your house and watch the world go round. :)
ReplyDeleteI really admire the way your children are growing up, Anna. Your family and Kimblerlee's family from Pondered in My Heart, are the ideal I have in mind as my little one's are growing up. I want them to be creative and give new things a go and follow their passions, and I see your children/young adults doing that and it is inspiring.
ReplyDeleteGiles has been busy! Good for him! I'm sure Clara will pick up the guitar just as easily. I like Felix's contribution as well. Enjoy your brood while they are all together!
ReplyDeleteI have read your blog off and on for years. It is truly pleasant and calming. I believe it is the quality of the photos. Surely, you have been asked this question before; only I can't find the answer by searching. What sort of camera do you use?
ReplyDeleteMy camera is a Konica Minolta (Maxxum 5D, not to be confused with the Canon 5D), which isn't made anymore. Ours is several years old.
ReplyDeleteI'm a pianist who always wanted to play guitar for those reasons plus the instrument portability reason. I couldn't get the hang of guitar years ago, but I am inspired again by seeing your post.
ReplyDeletealways nice to see young adults enjoying their time with siblings. such a blessing!
