Japanese Maple Log Cabin Quilt *Started*, the headline should actually read. I haven't wanted to do any Big Sewing since we got home from Paris, so instead I spent some time this week going through two scrap bins--the blue+green, and the red+pink, which was very full because I haven't made any good-size quilts in that colorway in several years.
But a girl can only poke around in fabric for so long before inspiration starts to stir . . . .

I love how creativity comes upon us, when we let it. My grandmother always told me, when you don't know what to make for supper, to chop an onion and get it started in your frying pan, while you browse your pantry. The sizzle and the smell will awaken your culinary creativity. I guess it's the same with quilting and calicoes.
Oh, I love that! My scrap box is my chopped onion.
Does this one have a recipient yet? I don't know I've ever felt this moved by a quilt top.. if this is one that's destined for the shop, I'd love to buy it.

Japanese maple trees have dark green and dark red and maroon leaves. It's my color inspiration!
