Log Cabin Quilt Top: October Wedding
On Saturday Felix brought a friend over, and she brought a stack of fabric with her. Her older sister had just gotten married, and she had asked each of the fourteen (?!?!) bridesmaids to give her a piece of fabric that somehow reflected her relationship to the bride.
Believe me, there was no rhyme or reason to these fabric choices. Fourteen imaginations, all going in different directions.
I pulled out some cranberry squares for the centers (the bridesmaids had worn this color) and we got to cutting, sewing, and pressing. After four hours, we had a quilt top.
And it was beautiful.

You're right, it's lovely!
But my mind is still reeling at 14... !
It's lovely! With the light behind it it looks like stained glass.
Here's a compliment for you Anna: at first I thought that was you and Felix holding up the quilt top.
And so it is...most definitely beautiful...
oh, I love this idea for a quilt! I love seeing how crazy limitations can turn up something new creatively. (But yes, my mind stops at 14 attendants to corral - I had 2.)
What a neat idea! It was definitely turned into a masterpiece!:)

Like Rose, I also thought it was you. Fortunate for this young woman that she knows Felix!

Oh yes - stained glass!
In this case, to show us the meaning of friendship and love.
Beautiful.
That is a really, really good idea! I hope her sister appreciated your efforts.
Your children and their friends are SO blessed by your talents and your gift of hospitality!
It is such a blessing that your adult children are so at peace to come home and bring their friends with them.
To you and The Composer -- job well done!
what a treasure!!!
Fabric and time limitations made for a beautiful quilt top. Four hours? Wow!
Four hours?! I'm embarrassed to admit how long it took me to piece a crib size log cabin, but even adjusting for working solo, it was much longer. I always love your fabric arrangements, though; you have quite a knack!
How did you arrange 14 squares? I can figure 12 or 16, but am curious on how you laid out 14. Also did you add the cranberry center over existing ones the bridesmaids had contributed? Thanks.
The bridesmaids hadn't made squares, they had just contributed fabric. We made 24 squares using the log cabin pattern, building them from scratch, then laying them in a 4 x 6 grid, then surrounding them with the very last fabric in a border of pumpkins.
It looks like stained glass as they hold it up in fron of the window! What a neat idea.
Very lovely! I am certain she will love it!
