This is the first of at least two abstracts I'm working on that come straight from my quilts.
You can see that the painting is much warmer overall, because of the red-brown underpainting. I'm not sure I like that, and I may try again with a cool underpainting.
Anna, thank you so much for sharing. I agree with you that the cooler monochrome tones of the original quilt work better, but I love the depth you've achieved in the white background. Also you've remained true to your painting style, your individual style of loose brushwork is still evident which is very difficult to accomplish with such angular images. what an incredibly fun duo!! I know a publisher who is publishing an adult coloring book of quilt patterns. Your project reminds me of that.
