My Duck Egg Filofax, Pretty and Blue

I continue to love my Filofaxes. I have a Original Nude Patent for work, this Original Duck Egg Patent for personal projects, and a raspberry Finsbury I use for my Bible reading plans and prayer lists. I LOVE having separate gorgeous notebooks for different parts of my life.

This binder is divided into a General Notes section (where I keep a running list of things I need to do, remember, schedule, etc.),  Festive Plans (where I work on whatever big do is coming up next--guests, menus, sleeping arrangements), Menu Tracker (where I note general dinner plans), Sewing (all kinds of notes about current, past, and future projects), Correspondence (I actually keep notecards, stamps, and addresses here so I can write a letter when I have a few minutes. I also keep a record of who and when I've written), and Weekly Goals (I write these across the appropriate week but without scheduling them. I generally pick 5-7 things outside my usual daily routine that I want to complete or make progress on).

For some reason, being able to hold all these in my hands makes me feel very connected to my projects and constantly inspired.

  1. That IS a dreamy blue. I also like "Festive Plans." :) As a devoted planner myself--I've not gone a year without a planner since I was in high school--I love seeing the way other people organize their days.

My own planner is a slim plum-colored Moleskine (last year it was yellow). As a lefty, I love that the Moleskine lays flat and doesn't have any binder rings or spiral binding to get in the way of my busy left hand. I use it in conjunction with a daily to-do list that I write up each night in a spiral notebook. I like a nice long list straight down the page of stuff to do each day. In the back of the Moleskine there are blank pages and that's where I have pages for "stuff to buy", "to create/write," prayer (post-it notes, so it can be changed when they're answered), wardrobe ideas, home projects, places to visit, and funny things my children say.....

    Viva the planner!

  2. I have my Dad's original Blue Franklin Covey Planner from about 25 years ago, it still looks nice!

  3. When Polly commented that she was a 'lefty' I thought for a moment that she was referring to her political views!! Surely not thought I - and indeed not, sigh of relief. I am completely in awe of people who can organise themselves in this way. I've tried it many times but I find myself gazing with horror at all these lists with as yet unticked items. Making lists is one thing but actually carrying out the tasks is another. Still,I keep trying. Where' there's life, there's hope :)Angela

  4. I love the color of yours! On the Filofax website, the 'Duck Egg Blue' looks more minty green. Is that the actual color name of yours, or your personal description? I like the color of yours better. :)

    Thanks!

  5. My pictures are pretty close to the real color. This is actually the Duck Egg Blue product.

  7. I love it when you write "more" like in this post. You must be among the top 10% of Most Organized People on the Planet, I declare. Now that I'm retired, I plan to get into sewing, too - and I love the idea of a "Festive Plans" section, as I'm trying to "put myself out there" more regarding hospitality. As for your planner, I'm a fan of the planners and planner inserts from Inkwell Press. There are goal-setting pages and habit trackers as well as Notes, Things to Read, etc, etc. They're really beautiful, too.

  8. Oh, and Anna? Just my humble opinion, but I think you need a "Planning" category! :)

  9. Anna, do you prefer the personal size or the A5? Does the Filofax open pretty flat? (Being left-handed complicates things!) I had a Franklin Covey planner once that tried to constantly close on me when I was writing. I'm starting to think that a little leather binder might be useful for my homeschool planning, since I have to keep up with my own children lessons as well as the Shakespeare and Plutarch classes I teach at co-op.

  10. Polly, I like the generous room of the A5 for sure. The original patent Filofaxes lay perfectly flat which was a huge consideration for me ( so do the Maldens, I just bought one of those too :)). Of course, I think that you SHOULD get one.

  11. I'm considering one of these as I now have two children with special needs and it's difficult for me to keep track of their appointments, notes from appointments, paperwork and plans using my phone. For some reason I just can't remember things when I track them in my phone. Would Amazon be a good place to find one?

  12. Amazon, or try ebay! You can find some great deals there.
