I know it's July but I just made this apron because the Christmas fabric was cute and marked down and at the front of the store. I used one of Simplicity's retro-style patterns:
And remember the Vintage Pattern Lending Library purchases from awhile back? I finished the 1930's frock you see here in a pink cotton print. It is the girliest dress I've ever had on and feels deliciously frilly. I consider it a house dress and not a town dress. The pattern dates from 1930 and so was very loose and unfitted at the waist. I wanted more definition so put darts in the bodice and added a couple of stitched-down pleats to the skirt. The pattern was very simple--just four pieces not counting the basically appliqued-on collar.

I love the look of the dress. I also bought some Christmas fabric that was just divine and marked down. I haven't had time to do anything with it though. Maybe an apron would be a good way to use it? I will have to think about that.
Ooooh! Simply lovely.
I love the dress!!! Thanks to your inspiration these last few months, as well as some other ladies I visit, I've recently set up a permanent little sewing nook and am enjoying sewing again!! What a pleasure. Thank you so much!
Love all your sewing projects....makes me want to bring out my sewing machine and get to work :)
Beautiful work! Thank you so much for sharing!

Your dress looks as wonderful as a pink iced cupcake. It is beautiful.
Found your blog via Homeliving Helper - you mentioned sewing vintage dresses and I had to look. They are great.
I steadfastly refuse to sew (except for handsewing mending) because I don't dare take on another hobby. I know myself and it's beyond me time-wise at present.
I do however have nice daydreams about getting my sewing machine when my youngest daughter turns about 9. Then we can sew together.
Anyway I added you to my blogroll and I look forward to vicarious enjoyment looking at your creations!
Those are so cute! I made my way here from the BW Forum, and wow you are so beautiful!
I think I'll check in here often and look at your projects.
