Quilted

Finished! *Loved* the walking foot--it would have been disastrous to quilt this top without it.

I quilted in the same pattern I would have done if I were hand-quilting, running the stitching along the inside of each diamond. Every single diamond. I don't want to start another one soon.

Machine quilting is a lot like riding one of the early cars, I think. If you've only gone by buggy in the past, it seems like you're flying at breakneck speed. The fact is, though, you're only going about twenty. And there's a lot of stopping.

Cleverly put. Thanks for sharing, I was wondering how the machine quilting went (my mom is a hand quilter - I'm a knitter and am not sure I'd have the patience). It looks lovely.

The 'alot of stopping' part is why I much prefer hand quilting. I tried machine quilting only once and that's all it took for me to decide doing it by hand was for me. I must say though your quilt turned out beautifully. :)

How big of a quilt were you putting through the machine? The thing that gets me is all the turning. I haven't quite figured out how to do that. I have several tops I could do, if I'd take the time to do them, and felt brave enough. Did you use white thread?

It looks really good!

I'm so proud and excited for you. I know how to machine quilt, but have never completed one, only because I'm too afraid to mess it up. I don't have time to practice. You're a genius. Will you hang it some where?

I just stumbled upon your website and noticed in one of your old posts that you make your own yogurt. Could you possibly share your recipe with me? My 11 yo was just diagnosed with pre-juvenile diabetes. So we are looking at labels alot and are shocked at what is in stuff.

So true!! Great job on the quilt!!

Christy, to make yogurt I use one packet of yogurt starter to one quart of whole milk. I simply follow the directions on the packet. There aren't any other ingredients. Have fun--it's very satisfying.

Great analogy. The walking foot does make a big difference in keeping that underlayer of fabric from bunching up, but still all those little diamonds would take quite awhile to walk around, it looks lovely.
