New Growth on an Orchid

Those crazy orchids are always up to something! Sure, you expect the new roots growing out, the new stems growing up, and new leaves unfurling. But this plant has decided to grow a second story. Up at the top of a trimmed, finished-blooming stem, it is sending out a collection of leaves, and what looks like it might be some roots. In the air.

I love these plants!

I'm quite smitten with my orchids {4 of them}, too. But, I've never had one get into such mischief.

I bought a strange looking orchid plant from a hardware store years ago (papery thin leaves stemming from oval, green pods. It was finished blooming, so I am clueless as to what type/color of flower it blooms.
It is looking more healthy now, however it still has never bloomed. Patience is a virtue, right?!!

I love these plants too but am afraid I'm not very good with them. I keep two in my bathroom by a window. Not much in the way of blooming happening though. Any tips are appreciated.:)
