A Red Velvet Beret for Daisy
Here Daisy models one of our current hat patterns. This is an easy beret made up in red velvet lined with fine red corduroy (see it in orange wool here). I use the instructions found in Simple Sewing with a French Twist, but the concept is basic and can be found here online. Although I must say, ladies, that if you are going for elegant you are going to have to give the bedazzling step a pass.
All you need is your fabric, a dinner plate, and a saucer. It goes together in a flash; wear it to church the next morning!
Bummer that I didn't see the wad of thread on Daisy's hat before taking the picture.

Very pretty!
But what I really wanted to say is that I am reading 'Sink Reflections' as it was one of the books you recommended at some point- and I am finding it very helpful- it is rather amazing what a slow but steady progress in making a house clean and neat can do!

Turned out great. I love that book.
Just beautiful! Of course Miss Daisy outshines the Beret ;)
Daisy looks gorgeous and so classy! What a beauty!
I think I'll give that a try! Daisy is lovely as usual though she didn't seem happy to have her picture taken.
Cute Daisy!
My mother used to wear berets. I'll have to make one for myself, in her honor.
Oh, it's so lovely! Especially on such a sweet face. :) (From a long time lurker, first time poster.)
What a pretty color on Daisy. I have to say, she looks cute in everything though. honest.

I love it!
I made a beret for my little girl, but I didn't have any directions - I used some elastic for the band and it's a little wonky. Maybe I will take it apart and make the band to fit her forehead. I used some old wool Pendleton pants from my mom to make it! I think velvet would be easy to work with for this style of hat.
Oh, so weet! You are so talented - not sure I could whip that up! But it sure would look sweet on my girly! {grin}
Farrah, you're right--Daisy was trying not to breathe since we were right by the new kitty's freshly-used litter box--the only bright spot in the house, sadly.
