Yellow Baby Quilt

Finished! Working on this project I was struck anew with how the close quilting in both diagonal directions really makes this style of quilt sparkle. The one diagonal doesn't cut it, for me. But when both directions are done, the squares really start to work together and sing.

I had enough dress fabric left over to back this stylishly in yellow and gray.

Someone asked what size blocks I cut. I stick with 3 inches by 3 inches because that's how wide my plastic ruler is. And it's not so small it will drive you crazy, nor so big that it looks awkward. It's Goldilocks.

You make sewing look so easy! You are always whipping something up that is amazing. But, because you constantly create, you encourage me to keep creating, smaller and simpler things, of course. Thanks for always sharing your projects.

How Perfectly Pretty! I love the colors! The quilting is just right, both diagonals are lovely! It makes me want to get my quilt out and work on it : )

Lovely. You have a wonderful eye for blending colors, or maybe it's that diagonal quilting that pulls it all together? :) The backing is such a pretty fabric, too. Lucky baby!

thanks to you, I am hooked on scrap quilts. I made one 3x3 in. king size, two 2x2 in. double bed size!! which is a bunch of tiny fabric and rather time consuming but a great way to use up scraps. I love the process of making the quilt rather than the finished product and back mine with well loved sheets. I quilt on the diagonal usually just one way. Do tell what your vintage machine is...I own a Janome computerized but enjoy working on vintage Singers for their lovely straight stitch.
Glad you are back...you are a wonderful homemaking influence and your blog is one of my favorites...

I've never done scrap quilts, but you've inspired me to try! I love how the colors come together.

And this is gilding the rose, but I want to let you know that you have a lovely blog!
