"An Eager, Wide, and Absorptive Culture"

"[Emily read that] Browning's schooling, which had been irregular, ended with a single term at London University, but ' . . . his education then was just beginning and was to last through a long lifetime of eager, wide and absorptive culture until death itself.'

Emily wrote down that phrase, 'eager, wide and absorptive culture.'

'That's what I'm going to try for,' she thought."

Love this quote. I read all the Betsy-Tacy books when I was in high school and have re-read some since I was an adult. So wise and wonderful. Thanks for the memory. Happy Easter Anna and family.

Dear Anna,

Would you mind sharing with me your "go to" books in addition to the Bible in regards to raising daughters?

Thanks,
Carole

Lovelovelove "Emily of Deep Valley"! I have fond memories of checking and re-checking it out of the school library @ 5th-6th grade. It was a cozy read yet again this winter. :-)
