Cutting the Four-O'Clocks

I never knew, because I never tried, that four-o'clocks make fantastic, fragrant cut flowers. Because the blooms only last a day, I never bothered with them indoors, but it turns out that even after cutting, the buds take turn opening in the vase, and I find my bunch lasts several happy days, with lovely scent.

Perfect for the lull before the leaves turn color.

I've never seen those, though I've heard of them.

I have these in my back yard! I planted them over 10 years ago and with no effort at all they keep coming back! I will use your suggestion to bring them in and enjoy them rather than seeing them as a negative! Thank you!

Thanks for this post. I have "four-o'clocks" in the backyard that spread from my neighbor's years ago. Never thought to cut and bring them in. I do like their fragrance and will now bring them in to enjoy. Sometimes it takes a nudge to think outside the box.
