Country Troubles
After we parked the tractor in the barn for the winter, a packrat nested under the hood and ate out the ignition. With no ignition, we couldn't get it on the trailer to take it to town, and it sat and sat. And either the barn roof settled or enough dirt washed in on the floor that when we finally got Awesome Tractor Repairman out yesterday, the tractor was too tall to fit out the door.
I left them to it and have no idea how things resolved so happily, but I know that we can bush hog now, halleluja.

I can honestly say that I have never had a pack rat eat the ignition out of my tractor. Glad you've gotten it all squared away!
My friend Carolyn Snyder has an herb farm. She had some furry critter eat the wiring in her truck recently. Caused thousands of dollars worth of damage.
Makes me kind of glad I mainly have chipmunks and squirrels to be worried about. :)
That is exactly what my husband is doing right now!! Bush Hogging.. we too had tractor issues this past summer...flat tire, ignition burned out and finally got it running again..! Thank God for the little things!

(I thought "pack rat" referred to human beings who hoarded things. Are they real animals? Or are you saying that someone who hoards things came into your shed and stole the ignition? Hmm. You're too clever for me.)

Lisa, you are a city girl! Pack rats are no rural myth, but genuine and fairly large rodents who have a bizarre hankering to build nests in machines (and other places) that they literally stuff with garbage, plastic bits, sticks, whatever they can carry.
My goodness! I thought they were people too Lisa! Learn something new at the 'Schoolhouse' everyday, don't we?!
Oh, my goodness! Sounds awful! But maybe you can train them to help with the housework, like Giselle in "Enchanted". :D

Now I must google a picture of a pack rat and find out what bush hogging is. Honestly. As if I haven't enough to do already.
