A Good Day to Work on Ferns

It was a good day to work on the ferns, being damp . . . and green . . . and ferny outside. I took several plants out on the back porch and divided them.

Most of my ferns have duplicated themselves in their pots. Divided into two and planted separately, you'd never know they'd just been uprooted. Still beautiful and lush.

These are something like Fluffy Ruffles, purchased at Lowe's when they were small. They've grown so happily in their milk glass containers.

They do look lush!
Anna your 10th, 20th, 30th method of watering and fertilising is starting to pay me big dividends in my fourth month of doing it -- my house plants look great. Thank you so much, I now neither overwater or forget.

Rose, (or Anna), is there a post on the 10th, 20th, etc. schedule?

Holly, I water my orchids on the 10th, 20th, and 30th of the month. I water my other houseplants once a week--but it sounds like every ten days works for Rose!

Thank you! I've got to try something. I have a black thumb, unfortunately. My husband always raises an eyebrow when I come home with another plant - and wonders aloud how long it will last.

* I especially like your posts on home-keeping...you make it look worthwhile and fun. I consider pretty houseplants a big part of a home.

Beautiful variety! Knowing next to nothing about growing ferns, last summer I brought back several clumps from my childhood home and neighborhood in Pennsylvania to our home in Ontario. I stuck the sorry-looking clumps in the ground and babied them the rest of the year. A few weeks ago, the new fiddleheads were just emerging and the fence guys showed up. They all survived and are blooming furiously!

Lovely ferns! I'm partial to collecting Hostas. I saw one at a flea market called "Wheee!" Unfortunately, someone already purchased it.
