Saturday Morning Book Cull

Clara and I attacked the upstairs Saturday morning (company's coming). Stacks and stacks of books on the floor meant we had to winnow. That's so hard for Daisy, but she did let us take out this pile--it's back to the thrift store for them, as part of our "thrift-store rental" program. Buy for a quarter, keep for a year, then redonate.

Maybe it's the time of the year? I took four bags of books to Lifeline on Monday.

I love the thrift store rental program! I also find myself doing this with books, home decor and toys. I always try to switch things out especially when I have found a lot treasures on my thrift store run so the house doesn't get too cluttered. I love being able to change things up with little investment and then passing things on for someone else to enjoy.

I totally treat the thrift store as a rental facility, too...with books and with plates! (I love to buy a thrift-store set of plates for an event, use them, and then donate them back!) A major book cull is going to happen here soon too--I blame Marie Kondo.

OH y'all are sure helping me rethink my thrift store addiction! I have been avoiding it lately, as I feel so guilty about buying and then returning items later. Always seemed a bit silly. But now I shall present it to myself and any skeptical observers as "a little investment" that I will eventually pass on "for someone else to enjoy"!

"thrift store rental" - brilliant!! Love this. I also consider any library fines sort of a rental, too.

(and Polly, that is so such a clever way to supply dishes for an event!!!)
