Log Cabin Quilt: Quercus Alba/ White Oak

A gift for a friend who just graduated from his master's program in public health, heading into medical school.

"He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water."

"Whatsoever he doeth shall prosper."
Don't you love that promise? I do. Thanks, Psalm 1.

Beautiful quilt and what a thoughtful gift! I want to begin quilting but I don't know if I will ever get to or not.

Beautiful! What stitch do you use for the embroidery? It looks much smoother than a backstitch. I tried zooming in but couldn't tell. I'd love to add embroidery to my quilts.

My Pastor's wife assigned this Psalm to me to memorize before I was baptized. It has been truth to cling to in some of the best and most difficult times. Like your quilt, it is beautiful. Thanks for being the bearer of a God wink, Anna!

Sarah, it is backstitch but done in Clara's tiny stitches. She doesn't like me to participate :)

Beautiful quilt, beautiful promise. I like how you added the bits of floral while the overall look remains definitely manly.

I quilted each square in a spiral. Thinking of cross-sections of tree trunks.

I love your posts, I smile 'out loud' when I see a new one. Your family, homes, food, sewing, faith are inspiring! I never comment because of laziness, I wish you had a like button😍

I'm a bit late to the party here but I'd also like to know the embroidery stitch. I've just finished my first quilt top and I have some time before the backing fabric arrives and can move onto the next step...perhaps I can occupy my time by embroidering something onto it...

Thank you!
