Honeycomb Smocking

I had soft gray fine-wale corduroy to make Daisy a dress, and decided to insert a front panel of honeycomb smocking, because the texture seemed like it would be delicious.

How interesting. I know nothing about smocking but I expect the preparation is more complex than the actual sewing. The gray is a nice choice.

Really lovely! I have always wanted to learn to smock, but haven't taken it up yet. This fabric is beautiful!

I adore smocking but am intimidated by it, mostly because I know nothing about it. My daughter wears smocked dresses frequently--we are the lucky recipients of some great hand-me-downs. My grandmother used to smock dresses for me as well. This corduroy does look extra-luscious--it's not a typical fabric to see smocked, and I love it!
