So Many Quilts for Sale

It's probably a very First World + Rural Area problem to have, but my quilt shelves have been overflowing for quite some time. I have therefore stocked my etsy shop with TEN QUILTS. Folks, these are part of quilting history here at the Schoolhouse. Get them while you can, and I promise I will give the proceeds away where I think they will do the most good.

Bless you all!

Modern Crib Quilts (for Twins) (or Not)

I am not joking when I say I am cranking through my stash. These two are the first of many quilting projects that will go in the shop. I've been busy the last couple of months!

All linen tops, hand-quilted with lots and lots of quilting.

Navy Wool Cape

When I get time to sew these days, I'm still busting away at my stash. This cape used up two lengths of vintage wool--navy for the outside and gray for the inside. Shop here if you're interested!

I Got All Boho in the Sewing Room

I started with a little 70s-style needlepoint of a fruit basket. It went from there.

The back has got a pocket from a dress.

Dresden Plate Crib Quilt

There were five of these Dresden plate quilt blocks in my stash--not six. So I just embroidered the outline of the last one. I like it!

Available in my etsy shop.

Everything is Pink

Everything blooming in the garden right now is pink--phlox, fairy roses, spirea, salvia.

In other news, I posted my entire collection of Marie Claire Idees magazines in my etsy shop. If you're in need of inspiration for seasonal beauty, check it out!

Japanese Craft Magazines for Sale

I'm spring cleaning my bookshelves and have many beautiful Japanese craft magazines to sell! These are all in excellent condition with all the patterns intact--however, if they came with a packaged fabric sample, that won't be included. I'll list the available issues below each picture, and will remove titles as they are sold. To buy, please send me an email at pleasantviewschoolhouse  (at)  gmail then a dot then com. I'll send you a paypal invoice. First come, first served.

Each issue is $8. If you want to know more about an issue, please ask Mr. Google. Also, be aware that these are actually in the Japanese language, although the patterns are usable by anyone able experienced in following a pattern--very clear diagrams.

Log Cabin Quilt: Cloud Shadows

This time I was disciplined and sorted those dark and light scraps! Then put them together in diagonal rows. We think it gives the effect of cloud shadows going up and down hillsides.

Also, I inaugurated the use of the 1/4 inch seam. It added an astonishing amount of square footage to the quilt--so this is one of my biggest efforts!

Proceeds from this quilt will go to  our dear young friends who are the first married couple of our kids' group to have a baby--they just found out last week. They're still on the church-mouse student budget, so I'd like to help purchase a nice stash of quality cloth diapers for them. Here's the shop link.

Eleven Paintings in the Shop

I've posted eleven more paintings in my etsy shop. The pricing to some extend depends on size (there are big pieces and smaller ones) and also on how successful I think the painting was. So you will see a variety of Price Points (such a genteel phrase!).

Sorry to Keep Doing This + The Last for a While

Really, this is it for a while. My cubby at the studio is pretty much cleaned out.

Four More Paintings

I thought that since the dining table is already a mess of bubble wrap and cardboard slices I'd keep on with posting the paintings for sale in etsy. A big thank you to all who shopped! Just a reminder, these proceeds go to charity--I'm currently giving to a young family who had an unexpectedly complicated childbirth resulting in many unexpected thousands of dollars owed to the hospital.

Oil Paintings in My Etsy Shop

The thing is, if you keep painting, the paintings stack up. Help me out! Four of last year's oil paintings freshly in my etsy shop, and more to come each week.

[Edited to add: a stuck a few more in this morning].

I Had a Minute to Sew

I had a minute to sew! And was determined to use up some of my stack of wools. I made four bags assembly-line style, and this pair of blankets for the car. I like to have something to cover up with if I'm traveling in cold weather.

They're available in my etsy shop and all the sale proceeds will go to a young family hit with unexpected medical expenses due to a premature birth and complications.

"Life Is Fragile"

Still in its thrift store frame, but will someday be a pillow.

Just a reminder, 100% of my etsy shop proceeds are donated to charity, and this week I am supporting flood victims in Louisian.

Embroidered Pieces in the Shop

New tote bags and a quilt in the shop tonight. The bags each sport loads of hand-embroidery--very different from each other. And there's a quilt!

Sister's Inside Day

Sister spent much of this beautiful day inside. I couldn't help following her around with a camera. Meanwhile, Fitzwilliam has spent the last forty-eight hours in front of the computer. Fortunately with his eyes closed.

I've put a few new things in my etsy shop recently--take a look. All the proceeds go to charity!

Ashes and Roses Log Cabin Quilt

Not to be confused with this quilt, which is different. Here I grouped the pinks and grays separately.

My  mother quilted and bound this, taking it to the next level (actually she went two levels up) by inserting welting between the quilt and binding--on both sides! On the back (above) you see the gold and red silk plaid.

On the front, she added a strip of turquoise. The woman knows her way around the scrap bin.

I'll be posting this for sale later.

Coat in the Alabama Chanin Style: Winter-Blooming Rose

Inspired by a project Natalie Chanin posted several years ago, I'd intended for a while to embellish this plain black coat.

I made the enlarged stencil last year, but it was only Sunday that I got around to gathering the coat + stencil + felt + chalk.

The project went shockingly fast! And it was a pleasure to work with the wool materials, especially the felt.

I don't really wear black anymore though, and I no longer wear a size 14. So I don't think I'll be wearing this. If anyone is interested, it would be $80 including shipping. And please note, the coat itself is in great shape but the pockets (invisible, in the seams) are tattered and would need mending or ignoring.
