Oil Painting Inspiration: Scottish Florals

I'm loving the fresh and gorgeous, almost-primitive florals of these two Scottish painters:
Alison McWhirter (above) and Mhairi McGregor (below).

Scottish artists bring to mind Alexander McCall Smith's Isabel Dalhousie series, a series you too might enjoy Anna. They are set in modern-day Edinburgh, Isabel is first a philosopher, then something of a conundrum solver and a fan of the arts of Scotland.

Rose, I'll look for them. I've had McCall Smith recommended many times, for the African detective novels.

McCall Smith is very prolific but also a quality writer. I'm not a fan of The Ladies Detective Agency series (the African ones), but I enjoy the Isabel Dalhousie series very much and quite like the Scotland Street series. He worked as a professor of medical law for many years so he brings an interesting and informed background to his writing.
