This is the Lord's Doing; It Is Marvelous in Our Eyes

A first taste of wedding photos!

The cake triumphant.
Gingerbread baked at home, iced with citrus-cream cheese buttercream, decorated on the spot with extra flowers, and consumed to the last crumb.

The men! Felix front and center.

That's right, I wore the same dress to both my boys' weddings! It's my traditional dress now. I'll wear it to the girls' weddings too, Lord willing.

Breathtaking ladies.
I proudly lay claim to FIVE of these young women. From the left: Bella, Daisy, Tia, and Molly, then Clara second from the right.

Molly's flowers.

They didn't see each other until the ceremony.

And then it snowed afterward.

It's so romantic! This may be my first time to see wedding photos in the snow, and I love it!!! And I would love to have tasted that gingerbread cake :-)

Thank you so much for sharing these - what a beautiful couple, what a beautiful family. Love that photo under the umbrella.

That is a gorgeous, glorious winter wedding color palette. The bridesmaids....wow. (Is Daisy really that tall?? What?)

I am going to try icing the gingerbread next time I make it. We love it with lemon curd, so cream cheese with citrus is just a short jump away.

As for you and your dress--that's so clever. I mean, why not? It makes perfect sense to me.

It looks fairy-tale magical.

Congratulations to the happy couple! You are all so very blessed. Everything looks so beautiful, and reflects so well the deep beauty of Love and marriage. May God grant them many happy, healthy blessed years together!
PS I love your mother-of-the-grooms {and brides to be} dress tradition.

I have no words...just breathtaking! Thank you so much for sharing.

We live in the Northeast, so the landscape looks similar to how ours has been recently: snowy. (Although, we are enjoying seeing the grass again now, at least for today.)

I am intrigued as to how you did the cake ahead of time, etc. Did it transport easily? It turned out absolutely gorgeous.

What GORGEOUS photos! So beautiful. You have such a lovely family. Who was the photographer? I love the idea of wearing the same dress to each child's wedding.

oh how lovely!!! The verse, the photos, the people. . .

I have heard so much angst from mothers about those dresses, so I think you are SMART to find a great dress for the first one and stick with it. Your trademark!

That last photo is just absolutely magical.

oh - and is there a method/recipe for the cream cheese with citrus icing?? It sounds like a perfect partner for gingerbread.

It looks like it was a beautiful wedding! Just wondering: are Tia and Molly related? Did Felix meet her at Giles' wedding?

Oh my goodness, what a gorgeous wedding! Love the color palette that complimented the snowy landscape. And the cake! It was a stroke of genius to have a gingerbread cake for a cozy, winter wedding feast. Love, love these kinds of weddings where everyone pitches in, and it is the most beautiful and personal event that a boatload of money could never buy.

Oh, more details....What was the favor for guests on the dinner plates? :)

Love the gorgeous photos! Ongoing congratulations to your entire family...the enlarging family circle is a joyous season of life!

And you're in good company with your dress: when my oldest brother and I each had weddings the same summer (his in June, mine in August), my mom went to Nordstrom and bought a gorgeous dress, rationalizing that instead of buying two pretty dresses, she was buying ONE gorgeous dress to wear to both weddings. Loved it then, and still smile at the memory now, 34+ years later. :-)

Oh, please, if you don't mind sharing details of the bridal gown. It looks like a blush underlay? What kind of lace? Where did she get it? Your Felix has grown into such a handsome man. And she is as cute as a bug little teeny thing.

Anna said...

Thank you all for your happiness with us!

I don't know anything at all about the gown--Molly bought it with her mother about one day after she got engaged :) In real life it's a barely-off white (I think) with no blush to the underlay. I'm sure she bought it in NYC.

Molly's mother made the favors--tiny pots of honey packaged with a hand-crocheted rafia coaster.

The photographs were done by a professional friend of Felix's who lives in Atlanta now.

I used a standard cream cheese frosting recipe--I think it was a stick of butter, an 8-ounce package of cream cheese, and 2.5 cups of powdered sugar, but with a bunch of citrus zest, juice, and vanilla in there. You can hardly go wrong.

I just wrapped the frozen layers in foil and ziploc bags and toted them up in an ice chest, then left them in the freezer until it was time to put the cake together the morning of the wedding. The gingerbread is so soft it doesn't even freeze solid, so I didn't thaw it and just kept it refrigerated afterward.

Thank goodness these rustic naked cakes are in style! So much easier than fancy frosting techniques.

Oh my---such loveliness all around! I too am a longtime reader-about 10 years I think--who rarely comments. I love all of what you've shared of this wedding; so unique and special. I think my favorite thing might be the peacock feather boutonniere that Feliz is wearing in the picture with you! ♡

So lovely. The tones of the bridesmaids dresses, the cake...so classy. Felix has grown up to be such a handsome man. Joy seems to be pouring into your life and family. God be praised.

I was wondering how you could top that dress which is perfect for you - smart girl. That deeper neutral color reminds me of the pewter-colored silk suit you found years ago - those tones are great on you.
The cake is perfect! And yes, the rustic, half-frostinged look is beautiful when some nature is added. I love the different pale bridesmaid gowns, and can't believe Daisy is almost as tall as Bella.
I see that Felix is wearing a feather in that thing on his lapel! Don't know what they're called. (David Suchet used to wear one when he played Poirot; it was a little vase for a posy.) The snow was such a treat for you southerners, I'm sure, and just the proper amount, so nobody had to wear boots. Are they honeymooning in the stone cottage now, or already abroad? Such excitement. :)

I'm the oldest of three girls. My mother found her dream mother-of-the-bride dress that was so perfectly "her" when I was engaged and wore it for my wedding as well as my sisters' weddings.

As a longtime reader, it's amazing to see the changes the Lord has brought to your family- wonderful changes! I started reading your blog years ago after finding it linked in another homemaking blog. I'm thrilled your family has grown with the addition of these two lovely ladies in 2016! When I started reading, Daisy was just a toddler and Bella was in elementary school! It's been wonderful to follow your family and constantly be inspired by your beautiful home, your lovely sewing and cooking projects, and your strong faith in Jesus Christ!
