Miss Buncle

My cousin Sally sent me the first book, and I was hooked.

I ordered the next two on my own, and they've been my Sunday afternoon treats.

And to think, with my BA in English lit, I've NEVER even heard of these! They sound like just my cup o' tea!

Oh yes yes yes! I love these! These were among my reads last year (did you know she was related to Robert Louis Stevenson...her father was his cousin?).

So after you read these, if you have not yet read Miss Read (the Thrush Green novels, the Fairacre novels) -- why, you just MUST!

I enjoyed reading "Celia's House" by D.E. Stevenson. I will have add to this series to my reading list! I loved her beautiful descriptions of the Scottish countryside in "Celia's House".

I love these books, and just brought home the Two Mrs. Abbots yesterday from the library! I am not surprised you are enjoying these, too! Aren't they just delightful? Julie Z

Oh, I love these books. I have vintage copies but I've never seen any others. I'm glad they are in print again.
Not sure about the covers though. The lady looks rather slender for someone with Miss Buncle's excellent appetite!

I thoroughly enjoyed these books too. And D E Stevenson has written lots of other books, as you probably know, so you've got lots more to look forward to!

I collect D.E. Stevenson's books. Some of them (like the ones you have posted above) are finally being re-printed, but many are still not. They are all sooo good (and there are lots) , and well worth digging up at the library, Amazon, etc.

I'm so glad you discovered Miss Buncle. Everything by D.E. Stevenson makes me smile, but Miss Buncle is the absolute best. I don't even know how many copies I've given away in the last few years.

P.S. If you're interested in reading more D.E. Stevenson, you might want to check out this chart that lists her different series and interconnecting characters and settings. Most books stand alone, but many characters reappear in other books.

Just popping in again to say gleefully that my local library has the first book...or should I say had, because it is now at home with me!

I LOVE Miss Buncle! I read these this winter from the library and I am on the hunt for my own copies!

I love the Miss Buncle books! I have read and enjoyed some of Stevenson's other books as well. The only one I couldn't finish was Mrs. Tim of the Regiment, but it's format is different: more of a diary than a narrative.

The Four Graces is sometimes called the 4th book in the Miss Buncle series because a few characters briefly show up in it. Regardless, it is another enjoyable read by D.E. Stevenson.

I just finished Miss Buncle's Book and thoroughly enjoyed it! I am rather grateful for falling ill and needing a day's rest so I could read it all in almost one sitting.
