Bathroom Floor

I am constantly shedding hair on my bathroom floor, and my hair is long and very dark, and my bathroom floor is pale green painted pine. Gross. I have never thought vacuuming the floor every day was a worthy goal, but I don't like living in mess either.

So I stole a fantastic idea from my mother's house--she keeps a Swiffer in her bathroom! One with a dry disposable cloth. It really, truly, picks up all the hair and any dust bunnies lurking on the floor. I keep mine tucked away in the bathroom closet, use it every day for 10 soul-satisfying seconds, and change out the sheet on the day I clean my bathroom. Works like a charm!

It's funny how we come to the obvious rather slowly sometimes, isn't it? After spending each morning (for over a year) stooped over, scooting around the bathroom floor with a few squares of toilet paper picking up hair (because I didn't want to walk all the way to the kitchen for the broom) -- it finally dawned on me to pick up another broom! Brilliant - lol!

I got a small headed dollar store broom that will store easily with its skinny profile; the swifter is a great idea. Ah the joys of broom shopping! ;o)

On a completely different note: You've got labels! And from the looks of your comments section -- you must have gone BETA! What do you think of the transition? Please share the pros and cons. :o)

This is a great idea! I've never tried a swiffer, just may have to break down and try one!

Now why didn't I think of that?!
My hair is long and dark, as well. And like you, I am grossed out by it lying all over places that are not my head. Ugh.
Now that my kiddos are primarly responsible for cleaning the bathroom, I've felt a tiny bit guilty making them get down on their hands and knees to clean up the dustbunnies composed primarily of MY hair. A swiffer would make the job less ucky, probably more thorough, and alleviate my guilt! :)
Thanks!
And DEFINITELY, please, PLEASE tell us what you think about Beta. I love that you have labels, and have been contamplating going BETA myself - just to have labels! I've been been trying to work up enough tecnological tenacity to do it. Is it difficult?

What a great idea......I never thought about that you would only need to change the swiffer once a week!

Hi Anna, I just wanted to say hello, and thank you for sharing. You have a very beautiful peaceful blog. I look forward to looking through later on this evening with a little more time, especially some of your sewing posts. I am 32 and have 4 children. I have recently gotten into the swing of sewing again. Thank you once again.

I like the swifter too. If my swifter gets grungy before bathroom cleaning day I gently shake it over the big wastpaper basket and or turn it over and get two uses from the one cloth. On the Beta change I have noticed that I could copy your recipes before and now I can't...is that one way Beta changes things??? I have to hand write them now.

Beta changes: I do like the labels. I don't know why you can't copy recipes! Are you copying them into a word processing document? Would that work? Or can you just print out the page? I'm pretty clueless and in fact Giles switched me over to Beta after scoffing at my timidity. . .

You inspired me to try something different - I had been bending over to use a dust buster for the past few years. The swiffer wouldn't really suit my needs since I have area rugs in the bathroom, but I discovered that a stick vac is perfect. It's basically a dust buster with a long handle that has an electric cord. It fits in the corner and I can leave it plugged in and ready to go. I can hardly wait to use it whenever I see hair!
