A Sweet Outfit for Clara

Clara is making a skirt from this lemon fabric, *very* full and gathered into a waistband. She chose the fabric to coordinate with this yellow tee we bought at the beginning of summer. To pull the outfit together, I added some fun embroidery this weekend, once again from Sublime Stitching, which seems to have a little appropriate something for every occasion!

Very sweet indeed! Thank you for recommending this book - I asked for it for Mother's Day and have been enjoying looking through it - I need to try my hand, but I'm finishing more of my deceased MIL's unfinished stamped cross stiches which were begun 45-60 years ago!

What a great summer outfit that's going to make with the lemons!

You have inspired me to pull out my Grandmother's sewing machine. She was here yesterday and showed me how to wind the bobbin (I never ever seem to remember how) She bought the machine in 1953 and used is until about 5 years ago when she passed it on to me. It is heavy and awkward but sews like a dream.

Can't wait to see more of you and your daughter's beautiful creations!

Oh, thank you for the link to the book that you used. I discovered that the author also sells a kit with patterns that my daughter would love to try this summer. Darling!

One idea I wanted to put out there for you and for your readers is that little black and white pictures from coloring books, or printable coloring pages from the internet can be a great source for embroider-able projects.

Very lovely fabric that you chose, Clara--very sweet, indeed :o) And, the embroidery on the shirt to match is adorable, Anna. We are busy sewing lots of summery things here, also. I just love wearing something new that one of the children, or I, have just made. And, it gives me great pleasure to see the children wearing things they, or I, have made for them, or they have made for their siblings. How it makes my heart sing to see children create, and delight in doing so. Looking forward to seeing more of your projects, Clara.
